Actor Abhishek Bachchan's touching gesture towards Neeraj Chopra after his silver medal win at Paris Olympics 2024 became a viral moment. Chopra secured second place with a throw of 89.45 meters in the men's javelin final, despite struggling with foul throws.

Actor Abhishek Bachchan has captured hearts with his touching gesture towards Neeraj Chopra after the athlete clinched a silver medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Bachchan, present at the stadium, was seen embracing Chopra in a viral video as part of the post-match celebrations.

Chopra, 26, managed a best throw of 89.45 meters in the men’s javelin throw final, failing to defend his previous gold medal. Despite a strong second attempt, his performance was hampered by four foul throws. He becomes the second male athlete from post-independence India to win two Olympic medals in an individual event.

Chopra's first and third attempts were marked as invalid, while his final three were fouls. His qualifying throw of 89.34 meters had raised hopes, but the ultimate 89.45-meter throw fell short. Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem set a new Olympic record with a 92.97-meter throw to win gold, while Grenada's Anderson Peters took bronze with 88.54 meters.

Expressing dissatisfaction post-event, Chopra cited issues with his fitness and technique over the past few years. He stated, “It was a good throw but I am not that happy with my performance today. My technique and runway was not that good. (I managed) only one throw, the rest I fouled.”

Chopra added that his second throw had made him believe he could throw further. “But in javelin, if your run is not so good, you cannot throw very far,” he noted, reflecting on his overall performance.
