Rahul, formerly the director of Corbett Tiger Reserve, has taken charge as the director of Rajaji Tiger Reserve in Uttarakhand. An Indian Forest Service officer of the 2004 batch, he replaces Saket Badola.

In discussing his priorities, Rahul emphasized the importance of completing the Tiger Relocation Project in RTR. He pledged to focus on tiger safety, given the rising population in the reserve.
