Shah Rukh Khan Confirms Next Film 'King', Reveals Weight Loss for Action Role

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan confirmed his next film is titled 'King', an action movie requiring him to lose weight. He announced this during the Locarno Film Festival, where he was honored with the Pardo alla Carriera award. Directed by Sujoy Ghosh, the film will also star his daughter Suhana Khan.

There were speculations about him starring in 'King', directed by Sujoy Ghosh, and featuring his daughter Suhana Khan. Shah Rukh made this announcement during a Q&A session at the 77th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland, where he received the Pardo alla Carriera award on Saturday.

'The next film that I'm doing, King, I have to start working on it,' Shah Rukh said. 'I have to lose some weight and stretch so my groin doesn't get caught during action scenes. It's painful, but you keep doing it. I look really cool in the film, but afterward, I'm exhausted.' The 58-year-old actor, who returned to the big screen with action thrillers 'Pathaan,' 'Jawan,' and social drama 'Dunki' in 2023, admitted that stunts are a challenging job.

'You have to practice action. You have doubles for the most dangerous stunts, but 80 per cent of it, you have to do yourself if you want to sell it,' he added. Shah Rukh also expressed a desire to star in age-appropriate roles, an idea he discussed with Ghosh, who has directed several films for Shah Rukh's production banner Red Chillies Entertainment.

He also spoke about leading a 'simple life' with his wife-producer Gauri Khan and their children Aryan, Suhana, and AbRam. 'The family and kids are very simple. I spend a lot of time with them and want them to be humble about their privileges. They have to come out of the shadow, whether negative or positive, of being a star child,' he shared. Suhana made her acting debut with the 2023 Netflix film 'The Archies', while Aryan recently completed shooting for his directorial debut web series, reportedly titled 'Stardom'. Shah Rukh concluded by stating that he aims to complete work on 'King' by 2025.
