Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Saturday criticized those prioritizing political interests over national welfare, urging a focus on national interest and wisdom. Addressing a Swarna Bharat Trust meeting in Venkatachalam, Nellore district, Dhankhar emphasized the significance of economic nationalism and reducing non-essential imports.
He called for stopping foreign trade in avoidable goods like garments and candles, highlighting that such imports strain India's forex reserves and impede local entrepreneurship. Dhankhar noted that India's abundant natural resources should be utilized within the country to boost economic growth and employment.
The Vice President urged industry, trade, and commerce bodies to address these inefficiencies, stressing that the nation cannot afford them. He expressed concern over the export of raw materials like iron ore without value addition, which affects employment potential and economic development.
