Filmmaker Karan Johar on Tuesday highlighted the blockbuster success of horror comedy 'Stree 2', hailing it as a significant moment for both Hindi and Indian mainstream cinema. The industry has been struggling to overcome box office challenges in recent years, and 'Stree 2' marks a turning point.
Directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Maddock Films, 'Stree 2' premiered on August 15, competing with releases like 'Khel Khel Mein', 'Vedaa', 'Thangalaan', and 'Double iSmart'. The Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer, a sequel to 2018's 'Stree', is approaching the Rs 300 crore global box office milestone.
In an Instagram post, Johar stated that 'Stree 2' validates the strength of strong storytelling and authentic content. As head of Dharma Productions, he revealed that the movie has deeply inspired him as both a producer and storyteller.
