Devotees thronged temples across Haryana and Punjab to celebrate Janmashtami, paying obeisance to Lord Krishna amid tight security.
Children, dressed in colorful attires, presented cultural and religious performances while bhajans and discourses on Krishna were organized throughout the region's temples.
Amid greetings from political leaders, including Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, idols of 'Bal-Gopal' were placed on ceremonial 'jhulas' swayed by devotees.
