Devotees Flock to Temples for Joyous Janmashtami Celebrations

Thousands of devotees from across India gathered at Lord Krishna temples in Mathura, Vrindavan, and surrounding areas for Janmashtami celebrations. With special rituals, chants, and processions, the event saw significant turnout and strict security. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also participated, leading prayers and well-wishing citizens.

On Monday, thousands of devotees from across India congregated at Lord Krishna temples in Mathura, Vrindavan, and nearby towns to celebrate Janmashtami. Early morning rituals kicked off with the 'Mangala Aarti' at the Krishna Janmabhoomi temple, resonating with chants of 'Jai Jai Shri Radhey' and 'Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki'.

In Gokul, pilgrims gathered at the Nand Bhavan temple for the 'Chhathi Pujan' programme. According to temple priest Mathura Das, around 2.5 million pilgrims visited various temples in the region by late evening. Senior Superintendent of Police Shailesh Kumar Pandey anticipated that the number would rise as more devotees continued to arrive.

At the Krishna Janmasthan temple, the day was filled with music, dance, and rituals, including Vedic chants and the offering of 'Charnamrit'. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath led special prayers, expressing his blessings for the world. The District Magistrate Shailendra Singh noted that Mathura was beautifully decorated for the occasion.
