Tamil film director Mohan G was arrested for allegedly making remarks about Panchamirtham, a popular prasadam of the Palani Lord Murugan temple. The arrest followed an FIR lodged by a Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments department official.
The police charged Mohan under sections related to disturbing peace and tranquility. He was produced before a court on September 24th and subsequently released on bail. PMK founder leader S Ramadoss condemned the arrest, labeling it unfair. According to Ramadoss, Mohan had only suggested in a YouTube interview that the government should be cautious regarding allegations about Panchamirtham.
Mohan G, known for films like 'Pazhaya Vannarapettai' and 'Bahasuran,' has been outspoken on religious issues in the past. He has demanded stringent punishment for those tampering with religious sentiments, as seen in the Tirupati laddu controversy. Panchamirtham is traditionally made from cow ghee, banana, honey, jaggery, and cardamom.
