A knife-wielding man killed three persons and injured 15 in an attack at a supermarket in Shanghai, China, police reported on Tuesday. This marks the latest mass stabbing incident in the country.
The attack took place on Monday, the eve of China's 75th National Day, which is celebrated today. Police were alerted to the incident at 9.47 pm local time and rapidly responded, according to state-run Xinhua news agency.
The perpetrator, identified as 37-year-old Lin, went on a stabbing spree before being apprehended at the scene. Eighteen victims were rushed to a hospital, with three succumbing to their injuries. The investigation revealed that Lin's motive was tied to personal financial disputes. Authorities have not disclosed his place of origin.
