A tragic fire accident occurred during a Theyyam performance at a temple near Neeleswaram, Kerala, late last night, resulting in 154 injuries, with eight considered serious. The cause was an explosion of stored firecrackers nearby, according to local police.
Kasargod District Police chief D. Shilpa has announced the creation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the fire accident.
Additionally, the district administration has tasked the additional divisional magistrate with conducting a separate inquiry and delivering a comprehensive report on the incident.
The unfortunate event took place at the Anjoottanbalam Veererkavu Temple, with the Nileswaram police registering a case under the Explosive Substance Act and applicable sections of the BNS.
