Vimla Bahuguna, noted social activist and wife of acclaimed environmentalist Sunderlal Bahuguna, passed away on Friday at the age of 93. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami lamented her passing, recognizing her lifetime dedication to societal advancement and her significant impact on environmental conservation.

In a heartfelt tribute posted online, Chief Minister Dhami expressed deep sorrow over her passing, highlighting her unprecedented contributions to social welfare and environmental activism. He extended his prayers for her soul's peace and strength to her grieving family.

Vimla Bahuguna's activism spanned decades, marked by her participation in the Bhoodan Movement during the mid-1950s. She was instrumental in educating rural women, fostering self-confidence, and encouraging participation in the Chipko and prohibition movements. Her death follows the passing of Sunderlal Bahuguna on May 21, 2021.
