The Uttar Pradesh jail administration has taken a unique initiative by transporting holy water from Prayagraj's sacred Sangam to 75 prisons across the state.

Jail Minister Dara Singh Chauhan supervised the operation, highlighting the importance of providing inmates access to spiritual experiences otherwise out of their reach. With over 90,000 prisoners across seven central prisons and numerous smaller facilities, the administration aimed to ensure each inmate could participate in religious practices.

Director General (DG) of Prisons PV Ramasastry confirmed that the prisoners were able to take a ritual bath with the consecrated water, which was mixed with regular water and stored in tanks. The celebration of this spiritual ritual coincides with the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, set to conclude on February 26.
