The entertainment industry is witnessing a transformation with paid media emerging as a pivotal element in promotion strategies. Renowned film critic Bharathi S Pradhan and respected trade analyst Komal Nahta recently expounded on this trend during an exclusive interview with ANI, shedding light on the escalating prominence of paid reviews, influencer collaborations, and social media promotion within the sector.

Nahta shared his firsthand experience, revealing that offers for paid reviews are common, particularly from newcomers. "I receive these every day, often from new students," Nahta remarked, recalling a recent incident involving an OTT platform. He criticized such overtures as increasingly prevalent yet often resulting in apologies once confronted.

Expressing concern, Nahta stated, "Paid reviews now account for 90 percent of journalistic content, with many accepting compensation through cash, event invites, or other perks." However, Nahta and Pradhan remain firm in upholding their integrity, distancing themselves from such practices. Pradhan reminisced about her early days at Free Press, noting the significance of unbiased critiques at a time when media exposure was limited. She contended that reliance on paid media isn't new but rather a continuation of a decades-long trend, further noting the impact of influencer partnerships on contemporary marketing strategies.
