Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, hailed for her trailblazing role in the Indian Army, has roots in the Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh, where she attended a government school up to Class 3. Her family boasts a rich military history, with both her grandfather and father serving in the Indian Army.

She recently gained attention after briefing the media, alongside Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, on Operation Sindoor. This decision to have women lead the briefing was applauded, further spotlighting Colonel Qureshi's intelligence and deep connection to her hometown of Nowgong, where she regularly sends greetings on its foundation day.

Colonel Qureshi's career is decorated with significant achievements, including being the first woman to lead an Indian contingent at 'Exercise Force 18' and contributing to the United Nations Peacekeeping Operations in Congo. Her achievements were also recognized by the Supreme Court's 2020 judgment in favor of granting Permanent Commission to women officers in the army.
