Emotional Farewell: Air India Crash Victims Laid to Rest

The heart-wrenching last rites for Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, pilot of the ill-fated Air India flight AI-171, were held in Mumbai, attended by his grieving father and relatives. His father, Pushkaraj, gave an emotional farewell as the casket departed for the crematorium.
Meanwhile, Maithili Patil, a crew member who also perished in the crash, was cremated in Raigad district. Large crowds gathered to honor Patil, recognized posthumously through DNA identification, as both funerals captured the community's collective grief.
The flight, en route to London, tragically crashed shortly after takeoff, leading to significant casualties. The authorities confirmed flight details, recounting the distress call issued by Sabharwal before the plane collided into a medical complex, marking a somber day in aviation history.
