In a dramatic development, a family in Uttar Pradesh's Rampur district finds itself in turmoil after a 55-year-old man, Shakeel, reportedly married a woman who was initially set to marry his 17-year-old son. The unexpected union has left the family shocked, officials revealed on Friday.
The incident unfolded in the Bansnagali village and was brought to light after the family publicly voiced their concerns. Shakeel, a father of six and a grandfather, was frequently in touch with 22-year-old Ayesha, following his daughter's recent wedding, his wife, Shabana, mentioned. Shakeel had previously claimed he was arranging Ayesha's marriage with his son, Aman, although the family opposed the match due to monetary issues and Aman's young age. Tensions escalated when Aman suspected his father's intentions after discovering disturbing calls and content on Shakeel's phone.
Last week, Shakeel departed for Delhi, allegedly for work, only to later call his family to announce he had wed Ayesha. This unexpected turn left Shabana struggling to reconcile with the change in family dynamics. As of now, no formal complaints have been reported to the local police, who have pledged to take appropriate action if any grievances are brought forward.
