The Ministry of Women and Child Development has officially changed the name of the National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCCD) to the Savitribai Phule National Institute of Women and Child Development.
This decision became effective on June 19, as per sections 12 and 12A of the Societies Registration Act, 1860, according to a gazette notification issued on Monday.
The renaming is a tribute to Savitribai Phule, a pioneering 19th-century social reformer and educator, renowned for her advocacy of women's rights and challenging social norms in India.
