Shabari Bhawan: A New Haven for Odisha's Tribal Community

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated Shabari Bhawan, a short-stay home for tribals in the state capital. Aimed at providing dignified accommodation for tribal visitors, the facility will host cultural events and receive a Rs 2 crore upgrade. Tribal development is prioritized in Odisha's comprehensive growth strategy.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday inaugurated Shabari Bhawan, a newly established short-stay accommodation aimed at serving the state's tribal community. Located in the state capital, the facility promises to offer a comfortable and dignified stay for tribals visiting from districts like Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, and Malkangiri.

Majhi emphasized his commitment to tribal welfare during the inauguration, announcing a Rs 2 crore grant for further enhancements to the facility operated by Shabari Sanskrutika Parishad. Not just a residence, Shabari Bhawan is designed to host conferences, training sessions, art exhibitions, and research activities, thereby nurturing cultural connectivity.

The Chief Minister also highlighted plans to develop a Tribal Culture and Heritage Bhawan and a Tribal Language Institute. He underscored the tribal community's integral role in Odisha's growth, aiming for holistic development by 2036. With tribals forming 24% of the state's population, their involvement is key to achieving this vision.
