Former Odisha CM Laments Over Paika Rebellion's Exclusion from NCERT Textbooks

Former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed his disappointment over the exclusion of the Paika rebellion from the NCERT textbooks, describing it as a 'huge dishonor' to the state's heroes.

Patnaik, leader of the opposition BJD, highlighted the rebellion as a pivotal episode in Odisha's fight against British oppression in 1817.

The NCERT clarified that regional uprisings like the Paika Rebellion will feature in a future textbook volume, due by late 2025.
