A 32-year-old man, affectionately known as a 'Govinda,' tragically lost his life in Mankhurd, Maharashtra, on Saturday afternoon. Jagmohan Shivkiran Chaudhari was participating in the Dahi Handi festival, a popular celebration on Krishna Janmashtami.
While tying the traditional earthen pot filled with curd from his first-floor window, Chaudhari lost his balance and fell, according to local officials. His efforts were part of the larger festival activities where groups form human pyramids to reach and break these pots.
Chaudhari was immediately taken to the civic-run Shatabdi Govandi Hospital. However, he was declared brought dead upon arrival, leaving the community in shock and mourning during what is typically a joyous occasion.
