In a press briefing, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has addressed the ongoing investigation into the tragic death of popular singer Zubeen Garg in Singapore. Out of eight individuals present during the incident, only Rupkamal Kalita has responded to the CID's summons.
Kalita was on the yacht when the singer died on September 19 while swimming. He is expected to arrive in Guwahati on Tuesday to assist with the Special Investigation Team's inquiries. However, Sarma expressed concern as the other seven have yet to commit to assisting with the probe.
Sarma affirmed that Assam Police wouldn't travel to Singapore for the investigation. Instead, evidence will be gathered through the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty with Singapore. Meanwhile, efforts to motivate the remaining witnesses to cooperate continue as the Assam government seeks closure on the case.
