A 58-year-old woman tragically passed away while waiting in line for darshan at the Sabarimala shrine, officials confirmed on Tuesday. Despite the efforts of local authorities, her life could not be saved.
The Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) president, K Jayakumar, confirmed that the board would cover the costs of transporting her remains back home to Koyilandy in Kozhikode district.
In a separate incident, a bus with 33 Karnataka pilgrims overturned near Erumely, leaving three with minor injuries. According to police, the driver lost control while overtaking another vehicle, leading to the accident.
