Javed Akhtar on AI: No Substitute for Human Creativity
Renowned lyricist Javed Akhtar emphasized at a literary festival that artificial intelligence (AI) cannot supplant human creativity. Despite technological advances, AI lacks the conscience and intrinsic creativity of human beings. Akhtar cautioned about AI's dependence on data and highlighted its dual potential, akin to nuclear energy.
Celebrated lyricist and writer Javed Akhtar maintained on Saturday that artificial intelligence (AI) cannot usurp the intrinsic creativity inherent in human beings. Speaking at a literary festival, Akhtar pointed out the limitations of AI, which remains reliant on data and devoid of a conscience.
Akhtar drew parallels between AI and nuclear energy, noting that while both hold vast potential, they can be channeled for good or bad purposes. He recalled that historically, new technologies, like the steam engine, were met with fear and skepticism.
Akhtar's comments came as he was honored with the SOA Sahitya Samman at a literary festival in Odisha. The event emphasized the theme 'Culture, Creativity and Artificial Intelligence', bringing together over 100 creative minds to explore the intersection of technology and human creativity.
