Union Home Minister Amit Shah and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat are gearing up to unveil a statue of the famed revolutionary Vinayak Damodar Savarkar in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The ceremony is set to commemorate Savarkar's notable contributions to India's freedom struggle.
The unveiling is scheduled for 2.30 pm at Beodnabad in South Andaman, marking 115 years since Savarkar penned the iconic song 'Sagara Pran Talamala', a tribute to his motherland. The dignitaries will also attend an event at BR Ambedkar Institute of Technology to release a song inspired by Savarkar.
Security measures have been intensified across the archipelago in anticipation of these high-profile engagements. Mohan Bhagwat is also set to address a larger public gathering on Saturday under the banner of 'Virat Hindu Sammelan' at Netaji Stadium, with additional plans for a session at Chinmaya Mission.
