In a dramatic turn of events, K Kavitha, the president of Telangana Jagruti, was prevented by police from carrying out an indefinite fast at Khammam on Tuesday. Sources from Jagruti confirmed her relocation to Hyderabad as the protest aimed to support oustees affected by land evictions in the region.

Kavitha commenced her hunger strike on Monday, voicing demands for justice for those displaced from a Bhoodan land parcel in Velugumatla, Khammam. Earlier, she organized a dharna, raising concerns about the authorities' eviction actions and demanding assurance from the district collector for granting pattas to the displaced individuals.

The protest gathered momentum but also caused traffic disruptions, prompting police intervention. Kavitha was moved to a police station but later released. Undeterred, she resumed her indefinite fast at Ambedkar Bhavan overnight, continuing her fervent plea for the rights of the land oustees.
