Cricketer Virat Kohli and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma have expanded their real estate portfolio by purchasing 1.36 hectares of land in Alibag, near Mumbai, for a substantial Rs 37.86 crore, according to data from property analytics firm CRE Matrix.
The acquisition includes two parcels of land totaling 21,010 square meters, with the first plot measuring 14,740 square meters and the second 6,270 square meters. The transaction was finalized on January 13, 2026, with a stamp duty payment of approximately Rs 2.27 crore.
This investment trend echoes a broader post-pandemic shift, where an increasing number of film stars, athletes, and corporate elites are making significant real estate transactions in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).
