The Maha Magha Mahotsavam, often likened to Kerala's Kumbh Mela, commenced its festivities on the serene banks of Bharathapuzha river this Monday.
Kerala's Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar marked the start of the event by ceremonially hoisting the festival flag, part of an elaborate procession originating from Angadippuram Aliparamba Kalari.
Despite its grand scale and historical significance, the festival recently faced a hiccup when authorities halted the construction of a temporary bridge meant for the event.
