Indian teacher and activist Rouble Nagi has been awarded the prestigious $1 million Global Teacher Prize. This accolade recognizes her remarkable efforts in establishing hundreds of learning centres and painting educational murals in the slums of India.
Accepting the award at the World Governments Summit in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Nagi expressed her commitment to continue her educational mission. Her organization, the Rouble Nagi Art Foundation, has successfully set up more than 800 centres across India, providing structured learning opportunities for children who have never attended school and aiding those already in education.
Nagi plans to channel the prize money into creating an institute offering free vocational training. Her work joins the ranks of past winners who have made significant impacts in global education, shining a light on teaching excellence from diverse backgrounds.
