In a significant judgment, the Supreme Court on Thursday confirmed the election of Congress MLA K Y Nanjegowda from Malur constituency during the 2023 Karnataka assembly elections.
The apex court revealed that a recount verified Nanjegowda's slim victory over BJP's K S Manjunath Gowda, securing 50,957 votes to Gowda's 50,707.
The Supreme Court bench highlighted that Nanjegowda's election stands firm, overruling previous High Court orders for recounting due to alleged counting irregularities.
