The Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham in Varanasi is set to see significant changes in police conduct this Mahashivratri. Police have been instructed to address visiting devotees as 'sir' or 'madam' and greet them with folded hands as part of measures to improve visitor experience.

Varanasi Commissioner of Police Mohit Agarwal disclosed that around 15-20 lakh devotees are anticipated to visit on Sunday. Police are receiving training in soft skills to manage the massive crowd effectively, with an emphasis on showing special sensitivity towards senior citizens, women, and people with disabilities.

Senior officials will observe police behavior from a control room, ensuring compliance with new standards. Any incidents of misconduct or negligence will prompt disciplinary actions against the involved personnel, aiming for a respectful and smooth pilgrimage experience for all visitors.
