Tech mogul and Microsoft co-founder, Bill Gates, will not be attending the AI Impact Summit scheduled to be held in India's capital from February 16 to 20. Gates's name, initially listed among prominent speakers like industry leaders and policymakers, was absent from the summit's official website as of Tuesday.
Officials close to the matter have linked Gates's absence to new allegations surrounding his past ties with Jeffrey Epstein. Although Gates has not been charged with any misconduct, recently released U.S. Justice Department files include a claim from Epstein suggesting Gates contracted a sexually transmitted disease, a statement Gates's spokesperson has dismissed as 'absolutely absurd.'
In an unrelated move, Nvidia announced that its CEO, Jensen Huang, will also not attend the summit, despite being a major draw for the event. While Nvidia hasn't publicly clarified the reason, speculation has suggested Gates's association with the summit influenced the decision. Gates began his India visit with a meeting in Vijayawada, engaging with local government leaders and officials.
