Singer-songwriter Dua Lipa has filed a $15 million lawsuit against electronics giant Samsung, accusing the company of using her image without authorization on their television packaging. The lawsuit, filed in the Central District of California, claims Samsung is guilty of copyright infringement, trademark infringement, and violating the singer's right of publicity for the alleged use of her photo to market and sell televisions.

According to the complaint, Dua Lipa asserted that the unauthorized image was captured backstage during the Austin City Limits Music Festival in 2024. She claims the photograph was used on the packaging of several Samsung TV models starting in 2025, without her consent or compensation. The lawsuit highlights the prominent placement of the image on television boxes, arguing that Samsung neglected to obtain the proper authorization.

The suit accuses Samsung of continuing to use her image even after explicit requests to halt the utilization, describing the company's response as 'dismissive and callous.' Lipa's legal team argues that consumers may have been misled to believe the singer endorsed Samsung televisions, evidenced by social media commentary suggesting a perceived endorsement. Her representatives state that Lipa did not permit, nor would have permitted, her image to be used in such a manner.
