Hollywood stars Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are currently facing legal challenges as Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office officers Jason Smith and Jonathan Santana have initiated a lawsuit against their production company, Artists Equity. The lawsuit claims the upcoming film 'The Rip' has caused "substantial harm" to the officers' reputations, both personally and professionally.

The contentions arise from the portrayal of characters by Affleck and Damon that, according to the officers, suggest "misconduct, poor judgment, and unethical behavior" during a real law enforcement operation. The movie reportedly draws significant parallels to a real-life investigation from June 2016, when over USD 21 million was seized, and uses specific, identifiable details that allegedly link the storyline to the officers.

In response, the officers' legal representatives are demanding a public retraction and correction. Directed by Joe Carnahan, 'The Rip' stars Damon and Affleck as two Miami-Dade police officers uncovering corruption involving cartel money. The film also features Steven Yeun, Teyana Taylor, Sasha Calle, and Kyle Chandler.
