Telangana Opens Doors to 'Feel The Jail' Experience at New Museum

The Telangana Prisons Department is launching the fifth Jail Museum in the country at the State Institute of Correctional Administration (SICA), Chanchalguda. Visitors will experience prison life through an immersive 'One Day Jail Experience' under the 'Feel the Jail' concept, highlighting historical and modern prison systems.

The Telangana Prisons Department is set to unveil a Jail Museum at the State Institute of Correctional Administration (SICA) in Chanchalguda to provide a glimpse into prison life while preserving the history of prison systems. The museum, the fifth of its kind in India, represents a significant effort to document and display the historical transformation of correctional facilities.

The exhibition offers a hands-on 'One Day Jail Experience' through the 'Feel the Jail' initiative, where visitors can understand the nuances of prison life, including food, living conditions, and daily activities. Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla will inaugurate the museum on May 12, reviving the concept previously existing at the defunct Sangareddy district jail.

This educational museum brings to light the progress from ancient to modern prison practices, showcasing thematic displays and original artifacts. It highlights the Telangana Prisons Department's shift from punitive measures to rehabilitation and skill development, providing authentic insights into the operational aspects of jail administration.
