A group of tourists from Mauritius faced a harrowing experience when their tempo traveller suffered a brake failure in Uttarakhand's Tehri Garhwal district, police reported.
The incident took place around 2:30 p.m. near the Dugadda police post in Kirtinagar, as the travellers were heading to the sacred sites of Badrinath and Kedarnath after visiting Gangotri and Yamunotri.
Thanks to the quick thinking of the driver, identified as Kanhaiya from Haryana, the situation was brought under control by using the handbrake. This prevented a potentially major accident. Police facilitated the repair of the vehicle while offering the tourists access to a kitchen, earning gratitude from the visitors. 'We were very hungry, and the police were kind to let us use their kitchen,' one tourist expressed. Once the vehicle was deemed roadworthy, Inspector Sanjay Mishra confirmed that the group continued their pilgrimage.
