In a strategic acquisition, Amazon MGM Studios has secured worldwide rights to the thriller 'Supermax,' starring Will Smith, from Miramax. Directed by David Gordon Green, this high-stakes film focuses on two FBI agents investigating a murder in an ultra-secure prison.

Will Smith assumes the role of a lead investigator in this gripping narrative, with auditions underway for his co-lead, a female FBI agent. The acquisition, valued at approximately USD 70 million, underscores Amazon MGM's commitment to developing the project as a major streaming release.

Filming is set to commence in mid-August, with David Weil and David J Rosen penning the screenplay. Known for their work on 'Hunters' and 'Invasion,' Weil and Rosen also hold executive producer credits, alongside The Picture Company and Smith's Westbrook banner. The project is further bolstered by the involvement of several Miramax executives.
