Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena unveiled the self-enumeration portal for Census 2027 on Sunday, heralding the start of Ladakh's first fully digital Census exercise. This historic endeavor aims to enhance data collection efficiency, transparency, and security through advanced technology.
The Census 2027 not only marks the first such exercise in Ladakh after its establishment as a Union Territory in 2019 but also pioneers fully digital methodologies in India. Saxena urged local participation, emphasizing that the Census is pivotal in shaping national policy and development strategies tailored to Ladakh's specific needs.
The comprehensive exercise is split into two phases: House Listing Operations from June 1-30, and the Population Enumeration phase concluding in September 2026. This strategic plan will align with snow-bound areas like Jammu and Kashmir, ensuring national synchronization and data accuracy.
