Tragic End of a 'Friend': The Passing of Matthew Perry
Kenneth Iwamasa was sentenced to 41 months in prison for injecting 'Friends' star Matthew Perry with a fatal dose of ketamine. He admitted to administering the drug without medical training, contributing to Perry's death in 2023. Perry's family criticized Iwamasa for his role in the tragedy.
In a tragic conclusion to the case surrounding the death of 'Friends' star Matthew Perry, Kenneth Iwamasa, Perry's personal assistant, received a sentence of 41 months in federal prison. This sentencing marks the end of the legal proceedings against five individuals linked to the actor's untimely demise.
Judge Sherilyn Garnett delivered the verdict, addressing Iwamasa's role in administering a deadly dose of ketamine, a potent hallucinogen, to Perry. The actor's passing was attributed to the acute effects of ketamine, exacerbated by pre-existing conditions, leading to his drowning in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home.
Perry, who struggled with substance abuse throughout his life, had requested the drug from Iwamasa. Despite discovering Perry unconscious on multiple occasions, Iwamasa continued to inject him with ketamine without medical supervision, ultimately resulting in the star's death in October 2023.
