Shrey Parikh, a 14-year-old scholar from California, has been crowned champion of the 2023 Scripps National Spelling Bee. Demonstrating impressive speed and accuracy, he correctly spelt 32 out of 35 words in just 90 seconds during the final round.

The eighth grader from Day Creek Intermediate School emerged victorious over Ishaan Gupta, a seventh grader from Jersey City, New Jersey. Parikh’s remarkable performance surpassed the previous speed record, making a name for himself in the spelling competition's history. The contest's rewards include $50,000 and other accolades, marking a high point in his spelling journey.
