Daring Rescue: Lao Gold Prospectors Saved from Flooded Cave

Four people were rescued from a flooded cave in Laos by an international team of rescuers. The group, among seven initially trapped while prospecting for gold, had been stuck due to rising waters. Two remain missing. The operation drew volunteer rescuers from several countries, similar to the 2018 Tham Luang cave rescue.

In a daring international rescue, four individuals were pulled from a flooded cave in Laos on Saturday, according to Thai volunteer rescuers, following the extraction of another man the previous day.

The seven Lao nationals became trapped in Xaisomboun province while seeking gold, with rising waters blocking their exit for over a week. While four have been freed, two remain unaccounted for, prompting rescue officials to continue their search efforts.

An elite team of rescuers, including experienced divers from Thailand’s famed 2018 Tham Luang operation, joined the effort. Additional support came from volunteers and diving experts from Finland, France, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, and Australia.
