ReNew Power commissions project under first reverse wind auction

ReNew Power said today that the first phase of its 250 MW wind project located in Kutch district of Gujarat has been commissioned.

This project is part of India's first wind power reverse auction that was concluded by Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) in February last year under the 1000 MW Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS), the company said in a statement.

The power generated from this project will be supplied to the Northern and Eastern states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha using the ISTS network.

The 250 MW wind power project was won at a tariff of Rs 3.46/unit by Ostro Kutch Wind Pvt Ltd in April last year, which, through an acquisition of OstroEnergy Private Limited and its portfolio of wind and solar energy projects became part of ReNew Power in March this year.

ReNew Power Ltd CMD Sumant Sinha said the company is first to commission wind power project under ISTS scheme of SECI I wind auction.

The company is an independent power producer. As of May 8 this year it had a total capacity of over 5.85 GW of wind and solar power assets across the country, comprising 3.92 GW of operational capacity, 1.66 GW of underdevelopment capacity, and 0.27 GW of recently awarded SECI project.
