SRPF constable shoots himself dead

A Maharashtra State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) constable allegedly shot himself dead with his service revolver at his home here Wednesday, the police said.

The deceased Vinod Ghiwande (29) was posted with the Special Protection Unit of the SRPF.

"Ghiwande shot himself in his head with his service revolver in his bedroom at around 2 PM," MIDC police station inspector Bharat Kshirsagar told PTI.

His parents were in another room when he turned the revolver on him while his wife was away, he said. The cause behind Ghiwande taking the extreme step is not known. Further investigation is on.
