Woman, daughter found dead at house in HP's Mandi

The body of a 28-year-old woman was found hanging from the ceiling fan and that of her four-year-old daughter lying on the bed at their house in a village in Himachal Pradesh's Mandi district on Wednesday, police said.

The woman, Pushpa Lata, and her daughter Samridhi where found dead at their house in Naunsi village of Taryambli panchayat, they added.

Pushpa Lata's husband is an army personnel and had gone to rejoin his duty about 10 days ago after spending holidays in the village, police said.

The matter came to light when the other family members entered the room after they heard the woman's four-month-old baby crying, they said.

It was then that they found Pushpa Lata hanging and her daughter lying still on the bed.

After the family members informed the police, Padhar Deputy Superintendent of Police Madan Kant rushed to the spot.

A forensic team also inspected the spot to collect the pieces of evidence, police said, adding that the bodies were sent for postmortem.

Mandi Superintendent of Police Gurdev Sharma said a case was registered and a probe was initiated into the matter.
