Southern Railway contributes Rs 4.7 crores to PM's National Relief Fund

Southern Railway Friday said its employees have contributed Rs 4.7 crore to the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund for the natural calamities that struck the country recently.

This is in addition to the Rs 1.08 crore given by Thiruvananthapuram railway division and the Rs 43 lakh by the Palakkad division towards the Kerala Chief Minister's Relief Fund, a press release said here Friday.

The recent floods killed over 400 people in Kerala while heavy rains caused flash floods and landslides in Himachal Pradesh and surrounding states killing over 25 people.
