Helmand hears explosion in election rally in Lashkar Gah

An explosion was heard at an election rally on Tuesday in Lashkar Gah, the provincial capital of Helmand, Afghan officials said.

Bordering Pakistan, Helmand has long been one of the most active provinces in the long-running Taliban insurgency.

Afghanistan is set to hold parliamentary polls on Oct.20.
