Iraq's Oil Marketing Company (SOMO) said on Thursday it has taken legal measures against shippers of a batch of fuel oil that was contaminated by a chemical cleaning agent.
The state-owned company said in a statement the shippers were fully responsible for the contamination, accusing them of violating contracts.
About 600,000 to 700,000 tonnes of high-sulphur straight-run fuel oil (HSSR) supplied to SOMO's term customers were affected, sources told Reuters on Wednesday.
