AP Guv hails inclusive govt in maiden address to Legislature

Andhra Pradesh Governor S Abdul Nazeer on Tuesday hailed the YSRC government for ensuring inclusive and transparent governance, in his maiden address to a joint session of the State Legislature.
In his speech ahead of the Budget session of fiscal 2023-24, Nazeer said almost four years had passed by since the journey to fulfill the hopes of five crore people of the state had begun under Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
“It is indeed heartening to share the way aspirations of the underprivileged, marginalized and vulnerable groups have been fulfilled through the implementation of several pro-poor initiatives,” said Nazeer.
The Governor noted that since this government was formed in 2019, it has embarked on an inclusive governance model under the broad welfare umbrella of Navaratnalu, a slew of welfare schemes. According to Nazeer, a former Supreme Court judge, the southern state has carved out a well-knit development and welfare framework under Navaratnalu. He said the government had adopted the concept of leaving no one behind, which is also in consonance with the global development agenda of sustainable development goals (SDGs).
He observed that Rs 1.97 lakh crore of financial assistance under the Navaratnalu initiative had been provided to people of all castes, creeds, religions, genders and political affiliations through various programmes in the past 45 months.
Commenting on economic growth, Nazeer said advanced estimates for fiscal 2022-23 indicate overall growth of 16.2 percent at current prices, as all three sectors of the economy, namely agriculture and allied activities, industries and the service sector, are projected to perform well.
Further, he noted that the per capita income of the state had risen from Rs 1,92,517 in 2021-22 to Rs 2,19,518 at a growth rate of 14 percent, including logging a GSDP growth rate of 11.3 percent in 2021-22, the ‘highest among all states’.
He termed the ‘Village/Ward Secretariat and Volunteer System’ as an innovative one aimed at facilitating transparency and decentralisation of governance. There are 15,004 in Village/Ward Secretariats functioning in the state.
Moreover, Nazeer listed the southern state’s achievements in the education sector through Mana Badi – Nadu Nedu, Jagananna Ammavodi, Jagananna Vidya Kanuka, Jagananna Godumudda, Jagananna Vidya Deevena and others.
Similarly, he listed achievements in the health sector naming schemes such as Dr. YSR Arogyasri, Dr. YSR Telemedicine, Dr. YSR Kanti Velugu and several others encompassing agriculture and women among others, including the investments won through the Global Investors’ Summit in Visakhapatnam recently.
Later, Assembly Speaker Tammineni Sitaram presided over a business advisory committee meeting, which was attended by the Chief Minister, followed by a meeting with the Council of Ministers in the Secretariat, led by Reddy.
