Russia's main mercenary group threatened on Friday to pull out of the eastern Ukrainian city of Bakhmut in a new sign of friction within the occupying forces as Kyiv prepares a counter-offensive to try to end their invasion.
WAGNER * Standing in a field of corpses, Russian Wagner Group boss Yevgeny Prigozhin published an expletive-ridden video personally blaming top defence chiefs for losses suffered by his fighters.
* He said his forces would withdraw from Bakhmut on May 10 - ending their involvement in the longest and bloodiest battle of the war - because of heavy losses and inadequate supplies. * However, a senior Ukrainian official said Russia was bringing Wagner mercenary fighters from along the front line to Bakhmut, and that Moscow wanted to capture the city in time for its May 9 celebrations of Soviet Victory Day.
