Minimum wage in mexico to raise about $5 per day from Jan 1

Mexico's minimum wage commission plans to increase the country's minimum wage to 102.68 pesos ($5.11) per day starting on Jan. 1, Mexican employers' confederation Coparmex said on Monday.

The new wage would mark a 16 per cent rise, compared to the current minimum wage of 88.36 pesos per day.

In the area within 25 kilometres (16 miles) from the United States border, the minimum wage will be increased to 176.72 pesos per day, Coparmex said. ($1 = 20.1160 Mexican pesos)
