The Tamil Nadu government on Friday showcased various initiatives aimed at the welfare of the Adi Dravida community, including housing and education programs.

The government has allocated Rs 100 crore to a scheme named after Dr BR Ambedkar, launched last year to promote entrepreneurial ventures within the Adi Dravida community, benefiting nearly 2,200 individuals, according to an official release.

The scheme provides a 35 percent subsidy on total investment and an additional six percent interest subsidy for entrepreneurs.

In a separate initiative, a housing scheme named after social reformer Ayothidasa Pandithar envisions a Rs 1,000 crore investment over five years, with ongoing projects worth over Rs 230 crore for this year alone.

Several other measures, including educational support for Adi Dravida youth and incentives for studying select courses abroad, are part of Chief Minister M K Stalin's efforts to ensure the community's welfare, the release added.
